City
City rugs have the greatest degree of sophistication
in terms of design and fineness of weave. City weavers have a lot more time to
produce their carpets and therefore aim for a higher level of perfection in
their weave and dye consistency. Carpets are intricately woven with wool and
silk, usually on a cotton base. The inspiration of design stems from the ornate
architecture of the 16th Century Mosques, Palaces and Royal Gardens.
Due to the more intricate nature of the weave, curved designs become possible.
