ANTIQUE CAUCASIAN BAKU KUBA

Kuba rugs are distinguished by intricate, almost calligraphic geometry. Repeating boteh, stylized carnations and serrated leaves are rendered with exceptional precision. The wool is firm and finely spun, allowing sharp delineation of even the smallest motif. Borders are thoughtfully layered, often featuring reciprocal trefoils or guard stripes of remarkable detail. Kuba weavings reward close study as much as distant admiration.
